Title: PCIe help
Post by: bigROBOTbill on June 22, 2013, 10:56:32 am
Hi team, I have 2 GTX460's running in SLi, one's a Leadteck, one's a Palit. Both have the same core speeds etc. Just looking at them using CPU-Z and the Leadteck card has the PCIe 2.0 x16 @162.0, the Palit one is pCIe 2.0x16 @82. That seems like the second one isn't running at full power. Both have the latest bios updates as far as I can tell and I checked in NVIDEA control panel and I have it set to maximum power.

Anything else I can check? Does it make a difference?

The motherboard is an XFX 750i, could there be something in the MB bios perhaps.

What does the 162 & 82 refer to? Can you post a screenshot of it?

It says this in the bus interface, I'll post a couple of screens when I get home MCC.

That mobo can do SLi with 2 lanes at 16x?

EDIT: Its running at 8x, thus the numbers.

Here are the screenshots, so this is normal then swindle? One will only run at 162 and the other at 82?

Actually after doing more of a search and it seems that it shouldn't make too much difference apparently.

This^ AFAIK, as long as you are getting X8, it should not be a noticeable bottleneck.
It only becomes an issue @ x4

Thanks chaps, though strangely after setting the jumper on the MB to allow oveclocking, both of them show as 162 now.
Not having much luck overclocking though, and i have stock cooling so I guess I can't expect too much.

XFX bios updates are nowhere to b found, my board is seen as a Microstar one. :(

No games, or software (afaik) can even make use of 2 GPUs at 100%.

All it means is one card is in x16 slot and the other is in the 8x slot, both slots are PCI-e 2.0 and it'll run them at 8x speed. but as Swindle and Emrico said, you won't notice any difference in performance during gaming etc, even if they are at the 'slower' 8x speed
