Unfortunately at this stage the rules of hall hireage doesn't permit running events overnight :upset:

would love to set up an overnight LAN, but at this stage we can't...

I would be tempted to go (haven't LANed in ages) but no overnight means no drinking/gaming till 3-4 am followed by a quick power snooze slumped over the keyboard till abotu 9 am and then doing it all over again

actually - I am going to take back some of my critiscism

There are no big LANs happening and I rescind my objection on the basis that the 'feedback' from the community is probably the reason no one has bothered to do a big LAN for a while - lets be honest, we have been a bit harsh on the guy - maybe we should offer more positive feedback/constructive feedback instead of just being overwhelmingly negative.

Maybe if we got behind this a bit more and supported the person organising then next time they can look at Venues that do allow overnight events - especially if this LAN is a success.

Short LAN's are doable, I agree 13 is REALLY short, but UrbanLan has been running for years and years as a 24 hour LAN.

It would be absolutely fantastic if we could get an overnight LAN running, we've always wanted to do one but all the venues in town are run by one group (apart from baycourt which is hell expensive), we've used baycourt once but because of the cost have never looked back at it :(

- 13 hours is longer than 0 hours ;)
- "kids" don't tend to come to our LAN's, maybe a few will turn up but normally everyone is 17+, we do cap the minimum age to 14 (gotta get them hooked into the lanning community somehow)
- being a community venue, alcohol is not allowed for sale on the premises, unless appropriate licences are obtained from city council, in the event you 'b.y.o', if we / they don't notice it and it doesn't cause a problem, we don't care ;)
- we don't give a flying fk about swearing, as long as it isn't used to be directly abusive to other attendees or overly excessive and unnecessary.... eh
- we say limit of 50 because of the size of the venue + number of tables available there would cap us around that number, 50 is just an even number to work with
as of yet, we haven't had 50 :(

will note down the added interest about running an overnight event and will see if we are able to 'pull strings' to be able to run one in the near future :)

Just curious. If I can't swig a brewsky while shooting cunts at my comp, do I have to walk to and fro to my car to maintain my happiness and stay in the zone?

If so, am I able to get close parking to the main entrance and what are the temperatures like there at night in winter?

RLC was 1 nighters. Great lans.
One Night Stand 2001 was 1 night. Great lan. Huge turnout.



It's how lans do. If you don't have good memories of driving hours to attend a 1 night lan, then you're too noophag.
