It's several years old now and it's sequel has been out for what 7 months? I have no issue with them giving it away free at this point in time.

Luckily I didn't buy that one.

7 months... that must mean that no one plays it, or has played it at all in about 4 months by now right?

Nah man I play most nights, and on a busy night there are literally thousands of people playing on AU servers..
