Into The Void, if you come here (into Off Topic) make sure you dont have any opinion that, conflicts with Simon NZ or any other of the blokes, and/or makes them look like the narrow minded people they are, otherwise youll be neg repped all the way home.

Trust me, after a few times of posting subjective and well thought out replies, my rep screen was raining blood. So the thing to do is TO NOT GIVE A FUCK

From my experience many poor people are religious.

They need help, and think they will get it from above.

Ignorance never ceases to amaze me.

Many rich people are christian, many working class people are christian, many of many different types of people are christian. Many people are christian because they need answers, they need help, they need comfort and solitude etc etc.

I see wealthy people in poor countries preaching to poor people becuase they have no more hope left and so they turn to one of the only options they feel they have left, now that there cultures have been destroyed, their friends and families murdered, there homes excuvated to make way for industry, their land and resources raped, their ways of living and teaching have been replaced by 'western standards, and their spirits have been broken though watching the promises of rich white men (readjustment and restructuring) go unfulfilled.

the fact the worlds population is 6 BILLION people and that it isn't happening suggests its not rare, it simply doesn't happen. the chances of it occuring when there were several times less people like 0BC are exponentially less.

Alot of you are confusing the issue.

Back in the day (lol) spirituality was much more dominant in the governing and social structure of most of the country's of the world, and people thought differently than they do now. Kings and Queens and the rulers of Nations and Empires relyed on spiritual guidance and belief to help with many facits of ruling.

How can you say there should be 'Jesus type' people walking around everywhere now that there are 6 BILLION humans on this Earth, when people like you (you know who you are) or say the Govening bodies of the 'west', wouldnt recognise these 'types' anyway? But even then, the thing is, Jesus' persona has been so acutely altered that we only have a biased/bastardised description of who Jesus really was.

The short of it is (maybe) - Jesus was just a man, who was a great scholar and alchemist, and a very prophetic human. He walked the Earth - like many of the figure heads of other 'religions' - and spread the word of love, compassion and forbearance, which he may have claimed was sent though him by a divine power. Later, Emperor Constantine/Augustus, seeing the effect that the words and acts of Jesus (and the Essenes) where having, took the original Christianity and made it his own and then hunted down the original Christians and anybody who had any affiliation with them, and systematically wiped them out. Christianity would later come to be known as the official religion of Rome with the Bible at the helm.

Im not a Christian but I have found that this period in time, to the current days, has some of the most crazy and amazing events in our 'known' history. You who think that science is this new thing that explains our world perfectly? The Aztecs, Sumerians, Atlantians, Egyptians, The Essenes, Mayans, Toltecs, Chinese, Celts, to name a few, all practiced science and spirituality together, and many of the sciences practiced were so advanced and far surpass what we know/are feed today.

Balance is a key

The trouble with threads like that is that there are a few people on this forum who will always bring an agenda to any topic.

It makes it easy for them to post their sly innuendo if the subject is or can be construed as race.

Well said.

Off Topic has just become a market place for the narrow minded to hawk their wares.

religion is often used as a civilised justification for war, defending ones beliefs quite often ends in bloodshed. As demonstrated in this thread.

Click hereAs for religion, it will be outdone by science eventually, religion gave us the answers for centuries while we were too stupid to do the hard yards and find out the truth through science.

The thing is you cannot find all the answers with science because it cannot, at this current point in time (and prehaps will not ever) define human spirit and conciousness, which is ultimately the core of our being. Things like Quantum Mechanics and String Theory are only begining to touch on what ancient civilisations had known and practiced for eons.

Also there is the thing of spiritual practices being grouped together with religion which is unfortunate indead.

And as for centuries ago who are you to say we were stupid, unless you subscribe to the Patriarchal Roman Chatholic doctrine that there live lesser beings and intelligence is messured according to ability to commit a genocidal concensus world wide. Religion (used in the wrong way) has brought mass murder to the Earth, just as science used in the wrong way has. If things are to work out we must have a deeper understanding of ourselves in a spiritual sense first and formost, and then science can advance into more productive realms

Religion is flawed is so many ways its not funny...

Religion isnt flawed as bad as most ppl currently think, its just been used in an unconstructive, negative way by certain ppl which has impacted badly on society in recent times.

I believe that science and religion are essentially part of the same thing but because of the machinations of certain ppl/groups, they have been split apart and used to certain ends, most of which havent been good, and which leads to brother arguing with brother, brother hating brother, brother killing brother.

I also believe the way in which we perceive what the function of science is, is wrong. Many accent cultures and groups used both science and belief in a higher power to wonderful ends. The Egytians practiced advanced chemistry, geometry and nautical practices, as well as having strong belief in many deities/gods. The Aztecs also had strong belief in the higher power and worshipped the gods in great communal ceremonies. They were also master masons, hunters, architects, farmers and had a great understanding of advanced mathmatics and chemistry. Jesus and the Essenes (and various friends of Jesus) practiced advanced geometry and the art of alchemy.
