Perhaps those familiar can shed some light on this for me.
Other. What is other in regards to the 22GB of space it is taking up? Is it the OS? Can I remove these files? If so how?
I have removed all the software I don't want and moved everything (Download, Documents etc) to an external drive. So its nothing obvious, at least to me.

It's your porn.
It's placed under the 'Other' category.

Can't you just right click on the OS folder and see how much space the OS takes up?

Don't think mine was 22GB.
Will check when I get home. I have pretty large apps too, (Office, Final Cut Pro), so not sure if that has any affect or not?! OSX n00bs UNITE!
I thought the same thing when I got my MBPr, but really... You use it for what it is, 128GB is plenty of space for the apps you will use, with a little doc storage here and there. Anything more, and I have my file server or external disks

I've got Office on it, but that's only 1.5GB, if I remember rightly?
Just don't want space being taken up that I can free, and I is confuze...

*posts the obligatory and un-helpful remark about remove OSX and install windows*
That said - you could always jump into command line as root and run some commands to find out - I had a couple stored somewhere for when I dabble in Linux
