What make/model 290's? They usually ship with software that can do this.

got MSI Afterburner to do it The Asus R9 290 cards run to 100 Degrees and the fan will only kick in and run at 100% at 90 degrees so i wanted to create a fan profile so will spool fan up faster sooner . (no matter what AMD say 100 deg is scary at stock) so now can run under full load at 58 degrees now
afterburner causes issues with punk buster.. just FYI for games crashing or kicking you out, especially the BF series. there are known DLL fixes.
