It is biologically possible for a virgin Birth, it happens in animals all the time, just very rare in humans.

Please don't read "Christians" when it comes to impoverished peoples turning to religion. By and large the highest proportion of religious people are poor. Most of South America is Catholic and very poor. Most Indians are religious and poor. Most Middle Eastern people are religious and poor. Indoneasia is (per capita) very poor and one of the most religious countries in the world.
The poor cling to religion as a becon of hope, education and/or as a means to a better life. Rightly or wrongly.

I do wish some of you would gain a bit of a wider perspective when it comes to this thread and look at religion as a whole not just the narrow Christian band that seems to be prevelant.

This line of thinking made me LOL harder than anything else we've seen so far. I think if you look back through the thread you'll also find Christian churchs being attacked for being greedy and demanding money - hardly a place where poor people would want to hang out. So let me get this straight: Christianity is for poor people and rich people, only the poor can't afford it yet its more popular in that income bracket. Hmm. Makes sense. Not.

Face it cobra, you got nothing. Christian churches are inhabited by perfectly normal people (and some crazy people, like any social gathering) from all types of cultural, economical and social backgrounds. As a song once said, "thats just the way it is baby."

I remember reading somewhere that "virgin" is the closest equivalent English word to the original Hebrew text, however the original Hebrew word doesn't mean "virgin" in terms of what we think. I will look it up later and find out for you.
