Porn-again Christians turn to software By IAN STEWARD - The Press | Saturday, 9 June 2007New Zealand churches are targeting internet pornography with new software that allows porn addicts to electronically monitor and support each other. The move comes on the heels of an American survey that showed 50 per cent of Christian men and 20% of Christian women were addicted to pornography. The availability of pornography on the internet was blamed as the culprit, many respondents saying they spent over 11 hours a week viewing cyber-sex. The American poll, conducted by ChristiaNet. com, the world's most-visited Christian website, asked 1000 respondents about their personal sexual conduct. Over half the male respondents admitted to "struggling with looking at pornography on an ongoing basis". Internet pornography was named as the main way of accessing the material. Females were not immune, 60% saying they had "significant struggles with lust", 40% saying they were involved in "sexual sin" in the last year, and 20% reporting an addiction to pornography. A youth group leader at Christchurch's Grace Vineyard Church, Scottie Young, said new software was helping combat the problem. The program X3 Watch allowed a "buddy" to see what a person had downloaded and emailed their supporter any "questionable" sites that had been visited. The idea was similar to the Alcoholics Anonymous approach, where addicts paired with a fellow sufferer for mutual support, he said. Young said he did not access pornography but most of his friends used the program. In his case it was to allow his wife "peace of mind". Young said the "mainstreaming" of sexuality had meant younger and younger children were encountering pornography. St Christopher's Church youth pastor John Stringer said although the problem was not an epidemic in New Zealand it was on the rise, particularly among teenagers. Pornography gave youths false impressions about sexuality and led to impoverished relationships, he said. Young agreed that pornography was harming relationships. "They say you love the one you're with, and if you're constantly looking at a 20-year-old nympho you soon lose connection with your real partner," Young added yesterday.
Turns out Creation Science isn't the only thing on Christians minds ... Computer Science and Biology are right up there as well ....http://www.stuff.co.nz/4088608a19716.htmlIn a twist of coincidence, I have had the X3 Watch software on my PC for over a year now, and the report gets automatically emailled to me and my Dad. Your thoughts?(note: not your thoughts on pornography )
doesnt your dad trust you or dont you trust yourself?
Neither - I just want to be accountable on that stuff; its not about whether I look at porn, its about whether I am leading a lifestyle that is healthy, and I've made a decision that looking at or obsessing over pornography is not a healthy way to live life and certainly not a healthy way to envision relationships or form my expectation of them.Christian groups are the only ones who really care about porn, thus they made the software. I think I would maybe look at using it even without being a Christian; I've never been a porn man. I set the software up myself and told my Dad what was coming through.
Following Teresa's death in 1997, the Holy See began the process of beatification, the second step towards possible canonization. This process requires the documentation of a miracle performed from the intercession of Mother Teresa. In 2002, the Vatican recognized as a miracle the healing of a tumor in the abdomen of an Indian woman, Monica Besra, following the application of a locket containing Teresa's picture. Monica Besra said that a beam of light emanated from the picture, curing the cancerous tumor. Some doctors assert that Besra's medical records prove that conventional medical treatment eradicated the tumor.[51] A second miracle is required for her to proceed to canonization.
dont worry we willfind your trigger sooner or later.
I don't trust myself. And as it turns out, I'm a pretty good judge of character.
doesn't the fact that 50% of christian men are addicted to porn tell you that the churches oppression of peoples sexuality gets expressed in other ways - i wont bring up the whole pedophile thing again - but isn't following antiquated rules from a time when there wasn't birth control a little crazy?
Of course, another guy I know (not from church) is addicted to pornography and denies it - I've watched it single-handedly destroy his relationship with his now ex-girlfriend, by giving him false expectations on women and sexual relations.
I think there is some validity to this point - I mentioned this survey to a few people at church this morning, and none of them were actually surprised by these results. A couple of guys I know (from church) have had experiences with addiction to internet pornography; both of them would happily tell you that it was not a pleasant time in their lives. Theres a real difference between looking at porn occasionally, which I think the general male population are prone to do for entertainment and technical assistance (), and actively searching it out every time you get a chance.Of course, another guy I know (not from church) is addicted to pornography and denies it - I've watched it single-handedly destroy his relationship with his now ex-girlfriend, by giving him false expectations on women and sexual relations. Addiction to pornography is definitely not a good thing, whether its taboo or not.But I agree with the first part of your statement Cobra - furthermore, I think if the survey was done on the male population in general, it would be far less than 50% who say they have an ongoing problem/fascination with internet porn.As for sexual practices/beliefs from the Christian/religious perspective, thats a different discussion.
well maybe nexttime she will shave that muff
Sexual practices/beliefs from the Christian perspective? Missionary, lights out, girl can't have any fun, no back room snooker and most certainly no gay love. The gays are obviously just defectives. And seriously, wtf is an addiction to internet porn? How the fuck do they define that? If I look at porn for 15 minutes while having a wank, it's all good, but if I look at it for an hour I'm somehow sick? I'm calling bullshit. After all, porn vids can be two hours long, and yet people buy and watch those. How exactly was "internet porn" responsible for this dudes relationship ending btw? Honestly, that's really really fucked up. Was he too tired to fuck? "Do you wanna go get some dinner?" "Nah just had a wank, tired." Unrealistic expectations of sex? Is he retarded? It's PORN! These chicks are "actresses", getting paid, so of course they enjoy getting spitted roasted by 10 inch cock. If he can't figure out that maybe most chicks DON'T like it in the pooper, then he deserved it.Sorry if he's your mate or whatever dude, but honestly. I wouldn't let him play Doom near you anytime soon, or he might gut you with a chainsaw.Genital beards are wrong.
I lold so hard

The best thing about Finance Minister Bill English\'s latest Budget is that it does finally signal a much greater role for the private sector in the New Zealand economy. And another step along the way to extract this country from the political cul-de-sac in which Helen Clark\'s Labour Government parked us.
