I think I read that 1/3 people in NZ are on some kind of psychiatric medication. That's a little too close to "the inmates running the asylum" for my liking.

Natural disasters are natural, sure it sucks if you get killed by one, but shit happens, it's not Gods way of punishing us, it's just a natural disaster.

If God exists, you can't blame him for all bad stuff that happens.

Yeah but god controls nature, therefore god is most definitly directly responsible for all the starving African children, henceforth he is also responsible for those crappy world vision ads.

Jesus: "Oh look, those fat shit Americans and Chinese are over-populating the planet"

God: "Ah well, hit those black African children with another famine. That'll learn em'.

God didn't starve poor little black kids to death, humans did as a result of over grazing the land and over populating the Earth beyond it's capacity.

Once we realise that we are God it all makes sense.

The best thing about Finance Minister Bill English\'s latest Budget is that it does finally signal a much greater role for the private sector in the New Zealand economy. And another step along the way to extract this country from the political cul-de-sac in which Helen Clark\'s Labour Government parked us.

I'm sick of the argument that if God exists, everything bad that happens is his fault.
If God stepped in and fixed things every time Humans made mistakes, then humans would never learn and just continue with their destructive way.

Humankind needs to be responsible for their own mistakes, don't start blaming their creator if he infact exists.

As for natural disasters like floods, they are not bad, they are just part of nature, therefore you can blame anyone for them.

If I were a wise man in a time of lawlessness and disorder, what better way to scare lesser people, than tales of such a terrible place, where only those who have rejected his good, moral ways of life would be placed, to suffer for all of eternity.  And those who follow his teachings wil be rewarded for all of time.

I have seen many christians scoff at Islamics for believing they will recieve 40 virgins by matrying themselves, only to believe in heaven and hell themselves.  I find this greatly ironic.

1/3 of people are medicated and the other 2/3rds are probably overweight or starving. God must be a binge purger.

Also, if you want a great idea of God, read Johnny The Homicidal Maniac comics. God is funny.

I guess God is like my dad. If I ever did anything bad as a kid, I would get a good beating, followed by 5 whips across the ass with a leather belt.

If mankind does something bad, god simply sends a Tsunami to kill a few hundred thousand people. Slightly harsh perhaps, but hey.

If god stepped in and fixed things every time we made a mistake, there would be no violent deaths and sadness, we would all be happy and people would die only of old age.

Although god doesnt care how many people violently die, as long as we learn from our mistakes. Which we dont anyway, as we are still continuing on with our destructive way, despite god not fixing anything. Nice work god.

Yes they are bad, as they kill us and leave us homeless. Yes I can blame god, if he can flood the entire world for 40 days and nights, Im sure he could stop that wee flood from destroying my house and killing my family.

What exactly does god do good? If god exists, he is a cunt.

That does sum it up. A family from Zimbabwe used to work on my dads farm. They had been forced from their farm at gunpoint, and were now very poor and down, they were very religious. The daughter was mega hot, so I agreed to go with them to church one day and watch her sing (which may I add, was the biggest mistake of my life).

The crap they rambled on about was incredible. At one stage the guy on the stage said something like- "they may have more money than us, but it will be us laughing when we are welcomed into the gates of heaven and they all go to hell".

To which the poor Zimbabwian dad shout 'hear hear' or some bs. God it was a freakfest. Bunch of losers trying to gain strength in the belief that someone cares about them and will help them in life.

The family has since moved to the UK because they thought god wanted them to. I still keep in touch with the hot daughter, she tells me life over there has been total crap, they have been forced to move houses FOUR TIMES, and her dad has a crap job and is taking medication for depression while scraping by.

They are super religious, and god treats them like shit. What an asshole.

what the bleep do we know is a awesome doco that pretty much tells it how it is.

some of the ideas:

1. if god is the universe, in its entirety, which is bounded but infinite, then how can 1 single carbon unit ever possibly sin against something so great? it is impossible. it is the height of arrogance to think a human could ever sin against something so supreme.

2. the single law that governs everything is that of unity. at the lowest quantum levels we are all the same.

3. thought defines reality. if someone absolutely thinks that they can walk on water they will. unfortunately in humans, even the most positive thought is just a thin layer masking a sea of negative thought.
