They use Alloy heads and cranks, they would of melted completely.

those heads should be able to handle 900c+, unless he was using jet fuel i don't think it would of.

Nope a normal flame i.e. candle burns at 1000c add fuel in the mix and your over 1300, way beyond melting point of the materials they use.

Recycle your red poppies, paint them white, and wear them throughout the year.

Trust me, if it was only a small engine bay fire that was extinguished pretty quickly you wouldn't have a big problem. But a fire of that magnitude destroys any engine, the V12 jags a few years back had issue's with the fuel injector lines and caused engine bay fires, I know of people that have opened up the bonnet to see right down onto their pistons. Alloy heads cant stand as much heat, and with a massive fire like that with the whole rear end of the car everything would be completely melted.

Talk to anyone thats been to Bathurst up on the hill with the car pit, they just drag cars in and torch them at night, 2 years ago they dragged a brand new merc from the carpark and torched it. My mate checked it out in the morning and you could see right through the engine to the ground.

And to keep on topic.
