There have been plenty of reports of insurgents stuffing grenades into gaps in the armour of tanks. Those chains would work against both RPG fire and hand grenades.

Actually what an RPG fires bares little resemblance to an actual hand grenade.  An rpg, on impact, releases a directional "squirt" of super heated liquid capable of penetrating steel.

A grenade however explodes causing radial damage.

Lol na it was just an episode of Future Weapons.  I am kind of right though... not all RPG rockets do that liquid metal thing - only the HEAT rounds do.

I did know that Rocket Propelled Grenade was a mistranslation of what the original acronym meant in Russian.

I actually knew that it was nothing to do with grenades in any way, nor similar except for the fact that they both explode.
I've often thought it retarded to call something a grenade on that fact (not knowing about the backronym), because why stop there?
Why not just call it an atomic grenade?

And that last word in Russian looks and sounds somewhat similar to Граната (Grenade).
Lost in translation perhaps?
Same as Cake and Pie are the same word, and viewed as the same thing.
