Unless you have some idea what you are doing with dvd ripping dont use smart ripper, use dvdfab hd it is free and updated often, smart ripper is for the more experienced user these days.

Field Blending:
Every frame is blended with either the previous or next frame, this happens when the original is sourced from NTSC and the publishers can't be bothered removing the extra frames (ntsc = 29.97 pal = 25)

Most content animation wise is drawn at 12 then doubled to 24(well 23.97) only in recent times has anime/cartoons begun to be released in full 24 fps form. So to get the extra frames in there for ntsc they take the last frame (24th frame) and the first frame of the next second and blend them together to fill in the gaps. This is also what should be done for pal source (or they just double a frame to create PROGRESSIVE animation, which is 1 frame after another with no blending done at all, its perfect). But lazy assholes like madman anime get the american sourced anime/cartoons, then Field blend the source into garbage and the result is all the frames looking like this:

Rainbows
I actually dont know what causes this, but since it happens mostly when being ported from an analogue source i say its something to do with that process.

Look at her boobs, face, and bow area, covered in rainbows, plus this source is field blended to make it even MORE FUN... :/

Now most of these things arent visible to the naked eye when watching, but they stick out like puke on a hooker to me, also if you are using an old tv you'd be used to this shit anyway.
