Back when metal was mastered properly and thus sounded good not the 'lets jack it up and crank it up as loud as possible thus killing all the depth of the guitars and drums' BS you have today in most metal and rock [Loudness War]

Truly love this song, I like how they tend to scream the verses then lighten up for the chorus :)

Sounds a little different in the vid :sunnies:

PUHLESS.. when you listen to more metal than what's played occasionally on the Rock, then .. and only then will we take anything you say about Metal seriously..:disappoin

Production differs so drastically depending on the style of Metal, for example some Black goes for the Grim/Kvlt atmosphere using archaic recording to give it that feeling .. but it can go to 'full on' recording studio with exceptional production ala Behemoth or Amon Amarth

production != mastering. An album can have great production but horrid mastering.
My point of the Loudness War illustrated:

Watch in HQ quality, preferably with speakers at the same volume thoughout

These are using metal examples

This affects both mainstream and 'underground' records and all genres but of course more likely to be found on mainstream stuff and tbh, it's more likely going to be used on power metal and related genres.

Fantastic article on the Loudness War explaining what it is with lots of examples:

http://musicmachinery.com/2009/03/23/the-loudness-war/

But hey, once again, another one of those 'Anti-CK, I'm the uber metalist' rants right?

A bit too Alicia Keys-ish but the song's still good.
