Hi, I'm your local self-righteous music elitist. I have the right to neg rep anyone whose music tastes I do not like. Muahahahahahahaha! Honestly....
'But CK, Metallica and Iron Maiden are 'hard rock' (one neg rep comment) and metal must always be fast and be a 'wankfest' like Dragonforce and Dream Theater and of course only unknown ambient / post rock stuff is good (what the other neg comment is implying). Disclaimer: If you didn't notice, it's in a sarcastic tone by the way and yes, I do like Dream Theater and Dragonforce and ambient stuff and post rock stuff but realise stereotypically that there are retarded fans of each genre who think that their music is the best thing since sliced bread and act accordingly. Thing is, your music taste is well ,your music taste and you like it for a reason. If you want others to enjoy what you enjoy, why not post it. If they don't like it, fine. If they like it, yay for them. If they ignore it, then it's indifferent and nothing changes. Music is music to me. I don't give a sh*t what genre it is nor do I care if it's mainstream or underground. F*ck it, time to hoard some autotuned Taylor Swift. Also I'll readily admit it: I don't like some of my fellow Gamerhub members' music tastes. Do I neg rep them for it? No, cuz of the above reason.

Anyway:

Taylor Swift - The Best Day

surprisingly good album [Fearless]. Wreaks of pop country music but not a bad album to listen to. Look forward to a future Taylor Swift as she and her music matures. The slower songs on the album are the best (Fearless, The Best Day). Album ends well with the rockish sounding song of 'Change'. Doesn't have the vocal range of another pop country diva, Faith Hill, but Taylor's music = quite 'fun' sounding. Yes, it is a good album, mainstream or not regardless.

Underground pre-Fallen Evanescence >>>>>>>>>>> Fallen and beyond Evanescence.

Get the 'Origin' album if you can. It's their best album tbh.

Here, you can download their pre-Fallen albums for free legally:

FLAC torrent:

http://btjunkie.org/torrent/Evanescence-Pre-Fallen-Discography-Origin-amp-The-EPs-FLAC/3778ed7c48184e5332d75ec42cf8b34c61f70f778320

Their entire Origin album is on Youtube if you want a 'try before you buy' thing.

Their most heavy sounding song off that album:

Also pwnsome instrumental to end the album:

Their underground stuff = far more dark sounding and actual 'gothic' sounding. Also much more varied in musical composition with everything from electronic stuff fused with chanting and even organs. I used to be the mad Evanescence fanboi back in the day.

Currently Listening to Gaslight Anthems album the '59 sound
highly recommended! old school rock meets punk .. actually.. what the fuck are these guys? who knows .. but its fuckin awesome

Quote
for THE '59 SOUND the band—which also features bassist Alex Levine, drummer Benny Horowitz and guitarist Alex Rosamilia—spent six weeks in the studio with producer and former Flogging Molly guitarist Ted Hutt (Chuck Ragan, The Bouncing Souls) to craft an album that reconciles the band’s love for classic rock and soul icons such as Bruce Springsteen, Otis Redding and Tom Petty with their New Jersey punk roots to create a unique musical amalgam that transcends genres and stereotypes.

Queensr˙che - Revolution Calling

Oh how this song is so much more relevant today than it was when it was released. Pwnsome song. Operation:Mindcrime album = <3 Geoff Tate's voice in his prime = bow to greatness. Too bad when Chris DeGarmo left = they weren't the same in terms of greatness ever again :(

They don't make it like this no more. Queensr˙che's best song in terms of overall band preformance (voice and instruments) IMO.

Home Brew - Same Shit Different Day

Fantastic NZ hip-hop. NZ hip-hop 'album' (more an EP at 6 tracks long) of the year? Possibly. Free full download from their website (in mp3, FLAC and ALAC)
http://www.homebrewcrew.co.nz/ . this song = my fav off the 'Taste Test' album

They do remind me of 'Blu & Exile' though, which is a good thing:
