Quality doesn't mean shit, if the crappiest pop music brat released some 7.2 FLAC HIDEF ULTRA MEGA MP3s OF OVAR9000 GIGS doesn't make said music ANY better..

quality of music > quantity of bitrate

^^^
this

i listen to a lot of punk music, and there are that many great songs recorded on a shitty old 4 track in someones basement, i will take that sort of honesty (ie, fuck all people are ever going to hear this - against me's early stuff great example), over some fantastically remastered massive bitrate track

Alien Ant Farm - Crickets. from the album Up in the Attic, considered their lost and least popular album (mostly due to no singles and no tour - record company issues iirc), but i'm loving it. alot

The above makes no sense but that's beside the point. Anyway, I agree that quality of music > quantity of bitrate, but why jsut settle for a lower bitrate when you can get better and still have the same enjoyment out of the music but in higher fidelity?

It's like having the money to buy a high-end Ferrari with more horsepower, better acceleration, more top-end speed but settling for a lower-end Ferrari even though you have the budget / resources to get that high-end Ferrari....

You still driving a Ferrari right?

Also remastering has nothing to do with bitrate. Also if you've compared the original to MFSL or DCC remasters (not other 'remasters' that only increase the loudness of the recording, reducing dynamic range and making it actually sound worse), please report otherwise you can't really comment at all. There's plenty out there....

Nice 'pop music sux' rant though and missing the point.

higher fidelity != higher bitrate (although you can achieve higher fidelity from a higher bitrate).
There's quite a few Metallica DCC remasters out there you can compare with the original CD if you have it + in the realm of your music tastes.
Ignore that fact that they're ripped in FLAC as that really makes no difference to the remastering. As I said, bitrate has nothing to do with how a record's mastered.
