mmm...definitely liking Innerpartysystem's self titled album so far.

A good listen. Definitely a New Order influence in their music (i.e. post-punk + electronic) while maintaining a sound that is uniquely theirs. Their slow songs are nice and well-timed and has feeling, which some slow songs by other bands can screw up badly and sounds too 'try hard'.
The album overall is well timed as well, definitely gives you the journey feel of a psychedelic music album. Their slow paced album songs are much better than their fast-paced singles IMO. 'Soundscape', which has space rock elements = a definately nice unique ending to the album.
The slow songs in general e.g. 'New Poetry' 'What We Will Never Know', do have space rock elements to them = very unique considering their relative mainstream success. You don't really expect that from a realtively popular band these days. A pleasant surprise indeed.

btw, if I was to catagorise their slow songs into a sub-genre, it'll be dream pop. The song 'This Empty Love' definately has the characteristics of this sub-genre. That said, fantastic lyrics thoughout the album.

Beautiful blend of guitar talent. Best live album/DVD in at least the past 5 years.

EDIT: John Mayer Trio's TRY! comes close.
