Nope, it's not.  Lucas is a complete twat like that, they originals didn't even make it to DVD until a looong time after it had become standard, and when they were, they weren't even in anamorphic widescreen.

There have been some nice HDTV caps of all 6 out for a years now though, that don't look too bad.

lol, Amazon's "alert me when this is released" page (which has been up for years) is about at close as it gets unfortunately.  There's no "real" (Clone Wars doesn't count) Star Wars movie on Bluray or HD DVD as of yet, legal or not.  The closest thing there is, is a full set of 1080p HDTV encodes (screens below).  There are plenty of dodgy Chinese Bluray's out there, that are just re-encoded to fit on DVD5's, and set up to play in Bluray players - so be careful handing over any money for "Star Wars - Bluray" online anywhere, as it's not the real deal.

Problem with using 1080p movie screenshots for wallpapers, is usually they're only ~800 pixels high, being 2.4 AR.
