Try Kingfisher Strong...only seen it in a 500mL can, but it is veritable goodness _b
Been there, done that. In fact you can get it in a quart bottle at Raviz in Mt Eden (well you could a few years back)

The best thing about Finance Minister Bill English\'s latest Budget is that it does finally signal a much greater role for the private sector in the New Zealand economy. And another step along the way to extract this country from the political cul-de-sac in which Helen Clark\'s Labour Government parked us.

Have had before.

Can say that it gets you quite buzzy when you're short on cash, but doesn't really belong in this thread at all.

Was down in ChCh last week so dropped into the twisted hop and had a hoon on a couple of beers and the Barleywine, it sure packs a punch at 11%.

Has anyone had Coopers Extra Strong Vintage Ale before?

I picked up a bottle today and it has some wicked nasty chunks floating around in it. I'm not sure if this is apart of the actual brew as I have had some legitimate beers that leave in chunks of what it is brewed with.

The label doesn't say anything special about what it's brewed with, just the usual "hops" and the likes.

Haven't opened it yet and want to know before I go back and ask what the deal is.

In the mean time, I'm about to try some Weka - Native Lager.

EDIT: Weka tastes like an expensive Tui. Yerk.

Sit it at room temperature and let it settle, then open and drink.
It'll be GLORIOUS!

Yes, the Moa, is definitely superior to the Weka, which in turn is superior to the Tui.

Harrington's 'The Rogue Hop' here. Firm favourite at the moment. Local Brew.

Tomorrow night I shall be opening a bottle of Renaissance Elemental.

Elemental is our most awarded beer, it has won gold medals in Australia and New Zealand as well as being consistantly rated New Zealand's top beer .

Originally the beer of choice for workers in London’s produce markets, the beer was a mixture of the previous nights slops that the "porters" would drink when they clocked off at dawn. Porter is also Andy's all time favourite beer style. Brewed in the modern ‘robust’ style, Elemental Porter is a rich, full bodied brew with plenty of dry, dark chocolate and roasty malt flavours which gradually give way to a cleansing hop-driven finish.

Elemental is awesome.
Had a Big Bear Black Stout lastnight after work and a Big Eye IPA, then went down to malthouse and had a Tuatara APA, VIP treatment - got it in a glass where everyone else was drinking from plastic cups. The barman there said the most expensive thing they had to put into a plastic cup was Mikkeller/Brewdog Divine Rebel (which is awesome) http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/brewdog-mikkeller-devine-rebel/99614/ - about $24 a bottle.

Coopers Extra Strong Vintage Ale is a win.

Just had to de-canter it.

Christ it's good.

Cloudy, big head, stacks and stacks of flavour.

If you were to drink it with your eyes closed you'd swear you'd be drinking a thick mealy stout.

No such thing as 'de-canter' Rii. It's not a horse. You can just decant it.

Told you it'd be fine

Ah ok. I just passed it through a sieve anyway. The bottle acted as a decanter as well.

Closest thing to a decanter that I have is a huge 2L glass with a slight bulge in it.

Decanter.
