Hey wow, a new forum!

Lets start with listing those rare good drops that aren't so commonly found in the fridge.
(this means no tui, no speights, no export, and no debates)
I'm a person who jumps at any chance to try a new beer... every time I go to the supermarket I try to get something new.
So I think it's time to share, and like minded people can either join in, or enjoy.

I recently tried an NZ drop called TaaKawa.

TaaKawa - Indigenous Ale of Aotearoa

Feck'n nice.
Easily the best thing I've had in aaages.

Very nicely packaged too :)
highly recommended :thumb:

I just finished off a Dux Nor'wester which can be bought from Pak 'N Save now. For those of you from out of chch, the Dux DeLux restaurant has a microbrewery and some fantastic home made beers on tap :) Ginger Tom is a fine drop too

Founders are a great brew. They do red, black and wheat.

Another one i like is renaissance they do 4 flavours and you can buy a pack with 1 of each flavour. This is not a beer for those who like sweet piss water

Very dark and rich for an ale.

A bit surprising upon opening, however quite a pleasant surprise.
Very flavour full...

Enjoyed!

Erdinger Weissbier , not available in supermarkets, possibly at some speciality shops but a beer this good should only be served as beer should be served - from tap.

Nah, haven't seen it here in Welly, but I must ask at the Malthouse - they have literally hundreds of beers.

Drank potloads of it when I was living in Chch.

It's not bad....just stay away from their nasty 'Summit' and Summer Ales.

I was impressed with this:

I found it at a New World Supermarket. I assume some of the better liquor outlets will stock it. Don't let the price put you off. It's worth it!

Tsingtao, it's a really good Chinese beer.

Quite mild tasting, easy to abolish a 6 pack without even realising.

Only if it's a bloody big bottle!

I can sort of see what you're saying, and especially after a hot day 'any' beer can taste o.k....but why wouldn't you want to have quality as much as possible?

Price dependant for me, I'd rather not spend too much to have a hangover if possible, the drunken state I can get into doesnt change with the type of beer, at least not beer you can get here.

Nothing wrong with Amstel light, dood. It's saved me from the rozzers on more than one occasion.

The best thing about Finance Minister Bill English\'s latest Budget is that it does finally signal a much greater role for the private sector in the New Zealand economy. And another step along the way to extract this country from the political cul-de-sac in which Helen Clark\'s Labour Government parked us.

Not much of a beer drinker personally, but i do appreciate spirits

one of the ones i particularly fancy is a local one from back home in Croatia

I'll spell it in english, but its "Rakia" there's also a derivative of it called "Orahovacha"

I sampled both when a cousin of mine was visting. Rakia burnt like the sun's wrath going down (Nah, not really) but it was smooth, and quite tangy, and a little sweet. Definitely kept the tastebuds going

~WARNING~ If you get a chance to try it, Rakia is not for the weak-willed. Its approx 75%-80% proof, they make it by taking the first pressings off the wine grapes, then further distilling it by filtration, and lastly by freezing the stuff solid during winter.. whatever isnt frozen is what you drink.

Orahovacha is very similar, similar beginnings, but utilizing walnut (I think). Its alot weaker, but very nice to drink :)

I am aware you can buy the stuff locally but it isnt quite the same, if anybody ever gets the opportunity to travel through europe and croatia especially, try some - you wont be dissapointed :)
