Hoping these are acceptable. Still haven't quite figured out how to reduce the noise but still get the colour right.

These were from tonight's sunset at CHCH Intl.

Highly noisy.

What is your ISO set at?

I try my best to stay at 100. Hate high ISO pictures.

Like this picture was taken with an ISO of 2000, and i despise it. The lighting conditions were deplorable. Was taken yesterday at my sisters hockey game, with my new 70-200mm f/2.8 lens. I love the lens so much.

Where as this shot was taken at ISO 200. Much sharper. I have desaturated the colour a little bit. However, this was with my older 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 lens.

added exposure/iso/aperture details. Any suggestions comments welcome. As mentioned, struggle to get good colour without noise.

Turn the saturation level up a notch and manually set the ISO at 100.

Manual mode ftw.

Remember, your little LCD screen is a habitual lier. Trust nothing it shows you to be correct, because as soon as its up on a monitor it can (and most of the time) looks different. A little, to a lot. Its just interesting to see a picture you think looks rather good, become really crap on a bigger screen.

that's more sensor limitations and jpeg artifacts than 'noise', nothing wrong with the pics.

I will show you real noise tomorrow, huge difference.

If you are pixel pushing, which lets be honest, most people aren't. Most peoples print needs are met with a 10mp camera.

I guess i'm just a little obsessive with certain things. When i notice bad detail, it will simply annoying me like crazy and i will strive to prevent it in the future.

I could not longer use a camera that gave me poor results in certain conditions, especially conditions that one could be in often.

Coming from a Canon user, whos camera performs pretty bad in low light conditions. Lol. Its fcuking horrid sometimes.

The best piece of noise software I have ever used, and I have used alot with my line of work, is in the niktools for photoshop.

Dfine 2.0   http://www.niksoftware.com/completecollection/usa/entry.php

I think there is a free trial, and it's available on your usual off site backup places too.

There is a better way to do noise reduction on long exposures (over 30 seconds) that saves you having to wait for the camera to do it.

Google 'black frame subtraction' It has always given me a better result than in camera processiing, this is also good if you want to do star trails etc as you cant have in camera noise reduction on for that, you only have to shoot 1 noise reduction frame for how ever many shots you have at the very end of the sequence.

Is Lilies really the correct spelling for that? What a strange word.

Man...some really nice photos in this page. I have not had my camera out, but once again have been fiddling with a friends photos. Here is an HDR I made and tweaked from her photo. I was too busy surfing to play with camera's :D
