What ISO you using on the 1st pic? Tis a little harsh on the eyes

Fairly sure on that one it was quite low. will check in a bit, although depending on if I took that one before or after the spider picture, if it was after then it would probably be quite high.
It was before it, so fairly sure it was quite low, but I can't remember exactly and the exif details don't show much in that area for me.

Anyone able to tell me what the best way is to get .NEF files into photoshop? I downloaded a converter program, however I'm not sure if that is the best way..
EDIT: I think the image quality of the photos has been massacred by the forums, they look a lot better before being uploaded.

I love HDR and its possibilities, I hate the OTT vibrancy that so many packages put on it when you merge. That's just my personal opinion. I prefer subtle extreme detail HDR.

Yeah i've been overkilling it for the sake of overkilled HDR. Looks dramatic or whatever.
Wish the 7D would do more bracketing though! Will only do 3 exposures... Dumb.

^What he said, great photos. I took some of my first decent photos today, but I don't think I should even bother posting them after those efforts (and they are of people whom I would pressume do not want their photos on random forums (non PC people(idiots))).

Swindle I'm pretty sure there is a hacked firmware for the canon cameras that opens the bracketing to 5+, the other way round it is with tethered shooting. Not as ideal, but works if you are going to a specific place with tripod/laptop. Im pretty sure the software that comes with the camera can do it, if not PM me and I have some 'free' shit I can send your way.

yeah i use it at home in the studio setout for shooting portraits with the Camera linked by usb to the pc and shoot from desktop comes with the Cannon software package makes life alot easier when not having to transfer images from card to pc because it gives you the option to auto store on hdd as well as adjust all settings would love to have a laptop to be able to shoot from on location i wonder if theres an Apad app that would allow it would be pretty cool

i did these a few months back from western springs a different outcome for each ... one over detailed with hdr to resemble an oil painting and one under detailed to resemble an water painting

Cheers Swindle your ones are pretty fucking cool too
i normally cant stand hdr photos that are done to improve a photo's lighting but adding too much to a photo is a bit of an art form in its self.... but i suppose theres a diffrence between trying to trick people into thinking that the shades of light and as Growler put it saturation levels are like that out of the camera and creating a Piece of digital art

Definitely.
Ive been saturating the hell out of mine for the sake of an over saturated HDR. Given the right image, i love it.
But it really is a take it or leave it form. I'll be playing with more subtle HDR soon.
