nice work there, you've certainly got the eye for panos :)
I find a tripod is only necessary if you're being absolutely pedantic about lining everything up or you're in a low-light/long exposure situation and have shaky hands :p

if you can turn white balance off, or metering and manually force it, do that. It should prevent those vertical bands in the sky.

Yeah you dont need a tripod unless you are doing a HUGE fucker or low light.

Also, did you take those photos in portrait or landscape before joining?

That panorama of yours over the lake is great, but I think it would of looked even better with more foreground, like lake shore etc.

Played a round of golf today with a mate, and after we were done and I was returning the cart, this little fella came right up to the main building. He was not shy at all.

On the 9th hole a magnificent double rainbow appeared, made me regret not taking my D90 along with me for the day, although it was raining very heavily for a while, so I guess it was the safe decision.
