Bahaha awesome vid..

I had 4 pairs of socks, varying from ankle to knee high soccer. 5 shirts and a woolen jumper. Jeans a beanie and I was still frozen.. Luckily for me there were around 30 cars that went through so I had plenty of practice with I think it was 30 sec exposures :D

What I hate, lazy MoFo's who can't be arsed putting rubbish where it belongs. (Taken from the same spot as the above photo.)

By the looks of the carefully arranged trash in a pattern that is often seen throughout NZ camping spots, I'd say the perpetrators were German.

Sadly, no, its general household rubbish dumped at the roadside.

0 artistic value in this shot, but the Mrs. gave me a new point + shoot so I thought I would test it out.

They have.

Talking to a few photographers, its scares them. Obviously they will never produce a shot like a skilled DSLR user can, but at the same time they take such a good photo the real need for DSLR cameras somewhat curves off.

Like the fear of the iPhone becoming the only tool a photographer needs (as a far out there example)

There are now P&S cameras out there that can swap lens and have contacts to take a flash gun.

Spider inside.
Spoiler :
http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/5524/dsc0003yo.jpg
Cool photos you've taken

I was up on a ladder just now (bout 5 mins ago) taking this photo, and holy balls was I scared shetless. I'm still a bit arachnaphobic, however I can generally cope with most spiders, and I'm fairly sure this is the same spider which I posted a month or couple of months back in this thread when it was about half the size and in a web right below my lemon tree, however now it is absolutely huge, and I was actually shaking when taking the photo, and the end of my neck band thing (the black bit which you put around your neck so you don't drop your camera) brushed against my arm while I was up apon a ladder taking photos and I actually jumped off the ladder thinking that a spider was on me haha... I'm still a bit jittery.

This thing.. Oh the horror.

A strand of it's web which stretched about five metres. No joke. Look how thick it is! The photo does not do it justice. Also there is a spot on my lens. :(

Why can't spider's webs be fluorescent so that I can see them better and know where they are? Haha

EDIT: The second photo is pretty average, however I would love any advice and or criticism on the first photo, I have had a fair bit of practice taking photos over the weekend (went to Melbourne for the GP) so have got a little bit better, obviously still a complete novice however I am starting to grasp what is necessary to take a half decent photo.

Obviously I could have chosen a better spot to take the photo, however as I mentioned previously, I was up on top of a ladder, which I placed in the only place where I knew there was no web, and I was still panicking about if I was to accidentally put my head through a string of web... It was seriously like a nightmare, which I voluntarily put myself through.

Haha, you could probably have heart my heart beating so loudly and so quickly from anywhere in the world. It was a fun photo to take now that I am back home safe inside.

Although I left my ladder out next to the web incase I stuffed up all my photos, so I will need to go back outside and put it away before the darn thing attaches a web to it!

The web of the spider seriously covers the whole top of my lemon tree, and it's a full sized tree!

I think you should try again and get much close and use a shallower DoF.

IMVHO, you need to choose the subject then make it 'pop'. ie - choose the spider, find context to show how awesome it is, then try and get rid of the interfearance using contrast, colour, and depth of field. Or choose the web, whatever, but it seems you went for both and then neither were overly impressive. Two shots with better DOF and composition would have said a lot more IMO.

I am very noob so could be very wrong. I also think a little bit of fiddling with levels/post process stuff can help with that too if you are stuck - up a ladder or behind a crap camera as I was.

Thanks a lot, I guess I will have to find another spot which makes the spider stand out more from the tree and it's web. I wasn't really trying to focus on the web at all, however I was trying to take the photos as quickly as I could so I could get the hell away from the thing.

I seriously can't. Makes me feel terrible.

Just eliminate all subject matter behind it, so if possible just showing a soft sky. Roll out a sexy 70-200mm piece of glass, will serve you well.
