Cool as macro;'s there bRb ... with your diffuser try a plastic disposable white plate with a hole cut in it for the end of your lens so the plate is on the end of your lens .. get an epic result from it

I just cannot get over the detail BRB gets in his macro shots with his homemade rig. Tis awesome.

DMW, that looks super surreal, you should get a person standing there that is nothing to do with water, like a clown in full on dress or something.

Here's what I got this weekend, I need to work on composition, but the milky way is always so high in the sky!

anything coloured in the background including leaves give nice background at this focus level, the in focus and out of focus is such small increments that it easy to get a nice background..


for example see this guys shots.... he takes approx 25 photos and then stitches them as each line of focus in each shot is about 1mm of focus..

the background in that shot is actually the same flower refracted in the water drop.

here is an example of how his shots work..

this shot took 12 shots combined at .25 increments of lens movement each time just to get the head in focus and you can see the back of the body is still out of focus and you know how small a lady bug is.. he used a tripod and rail setup.

Yep, the extreme shallow depth of focus throws any background into a soft wash, the stink bug was on a dead leaf I placed on the edge of my BBQ so I could get a shot looking up.
