I can understand that. I don't know if I would stick round. Moving sucks though..friends/fam etc. Dunno that living on such an active fault line is worth staying though either. :-(
Come be a Jafa...it's no that bad :D

I'd hardly say a fault line they didn't know about is 'such an active fault'

I can understand peopel wanting to get out, but I believe it should be a quick holiday and then come back and re-assess the situation.

I've lost my home (though still livable) will probably lose my job with no prospects for other employment. I have a family to provide for. I am still not making any rash decisions to move, Chch has been my home, I don't want to turn my back on it now when the city needs all the help it can get!

It came from a police officer that was watching the cathedral when the earthquake hit, I was told.

Same for us really. We're heading to Wellington for a couple of nights break next thursday, then on the sunday, after we get back, we'll be moving to the new flat we've got, then soem time around the 15th I'll find out if I still have a job.  Tough times coming

What about your RWC contract?
Was that for CHC plays only?
Was that for printed material (for some reason I thought it was your personal skills as a photographer).

Haven;t got anything booked, but will be grabbing a place somewhere around Newtown. I've already told wifey minimum is 2 bedrooms ( Will have 14 yr old boy with us) and a spa bath. Any recommendations?

Actually, now I mention the boy, does anyone from Wgton in these forums have a 13 - 15 yr old son? especially a geeky one who'd like to befriend a chch earthquake refugee for a day or so. The boy will prob just want to keep playing Minecraft on his laptop anyway.

re: beer o'clock. Wifey is going to a gig on thursday night. Orcon Great Blend at some bowling club. I don't know whether I will go with her or not at this stage. Will depend whether I am in the mood for loud opinionated people.

I have a ten yr old boy who has mild ASD ,(Autism Spectrum Disorder), he's a gaming freak.
If your boy is into gaming they would get along well.
But sorry I live out in the Hutt Valley.

Thanks for the offer Lady, but with us only in town 48 hrs, I think the Hutt would tie up too much of the day travelling. I doubt we'll get any further north than the Beehive.

Appreciate the thought, but we've already decided we don't want to stay "with" people, if that makes any sense.

The best thing about Finance Minister Bill English\'s latest Budget is that it does finally signal a much greater role for the private sector in the New Zealand economy. And another step along the way to extract this country from the political cul-de-sac in which Helen Clark\'s Labour Government parked us.
