An engineer says he was lucky to not be crushed when an irate worker attacked him with a demolition digger.Consulting engineering firm director Jade Kirk said he was twice hit by the bucket of a digger after approaching the driver in the central city on Wednesday afternoon.Kirk was working to stabilise the quake-damaged former Trinity Congregational Church, now the Octagon restaurant, at the corner of Worcester and Manchester streets.Diggers working diagonally across the road on the demolition of the quake-destroyed Westende Jewellers building were causing vibrations that Kirk said widened cracks in the 135-year-old church "to a point where there was a high probability of collapse" .After removing workers from the church's tower, he and art historian Ian Lochhead asked the drivers to stop.Kirk said one of the drivers "went off the handle" and began abusing him.As he was phoning the demolition company's boss, he said the driver swung the bucket in his direction, stopping "a few feet away".As a startled Kirk put the phone back to his ear, the bucket swung again, striking him on the right shoulder and knocking him "about a metre sideways across the rubble".Kirk said he dialled 111, but the driver put the bucket over his head and "drove it down on top of me".Kirk, who was wearing a safety hat, said he was pushed down about half a metre."I had to bend my knees and back to prevent it from crushing me and to get out from under it," he said."I got off the site and rang the police and his employer. It was the first time I've been assaulted by a digger. I was terrified."Kirk was back at work yesterday in his central city office while two Southern Demolition diggers remained idle at the demolition site."People just need to slow down and make sure the correct decisions are made when demolishing buildings," he said. "Removing one building can significantly damage another building nearby."Southern Demolition director Alan Edge said he was unaware of the incident, and there were bigger issues to deal with in the city.Lochhead, a Canterbury University associate professor of art history, confirmed Kirk's account of the incident."If I had taken a piece of three-by-two and given him [Kirk] a reasonably firm rap on the head with it, that's what it was like."
Pokemon arent real but they should be.

PR fucking nightmare, and the guy just fobs it off. Not at all an appropriate answer. Of course, assuming stuff have managed to employ a decent reporter that doesn't make shit up just for the sensation.
