I slept through the whole fucking thing _p Everything is perfectly fine at our flat, we didn't even lose power or water, we're pretty lucky. Sucks for people whose houses are damaged. Although all things considered, it couldn't have been better timed. If it had happened midday on a weekday instead of 5am Saturday, there would be dozens of fatalities.

Well, I've never seen Christchurch for myself, so how do I know the shops there are not usually missing their walls, with the bricks covering the street in front of them.

errr an aftershock this morning was 5.1 on the richer scale and lasted longer than a few split seconds..

since the first hit the place hasnt stopped shaking some aftershocks lasting a few minutes.

My boss had problems like this, the phone wiring was a pair and with one of the wires broken the ADSL worked as it only needed one wire wire but the phone did not.

adsl can work through a one leg diss and a hard short too. Just so you know.
