Wow, glad to hear everyone is ok so far. Seems like this one was alot worse because of the time it struck. Quite a few fatalities already reported.

My thoughts are with Christchurch!!
I just got home from SIT. The earthquake hit when we were in class and half of us spent it watching news about the earthquake on youtube, twitter, facebook and CNN.

Southland has lost its 111 service, eftpos is mostly down and 3g is currently down. I think all services have been diverted to Christchurch to help.

Hope you guys are all okay!

111 services are back up in southland according to tv3 news

anyone know where abouts in auckland people will be able to donate blood? i heard they need it down there and i want to do my bit to help

That may not be Grim's landline any more either, I think they're mid move.
He was at Uni, his wife may have been at work also.

Apparently the infrastructure is based in Christchurch, and got a bit dominated.

You parents (depending on where they were at the time) are probably ok. House might be a bit weaker than it was though. I had to drive through that area on the way home.

yeah as we were walking to latimar square (works evac procedure) the second aftershock after the big one caused the big church to cave in further by the ctv building

Thanks for that thought Pyro, realy appreciate it feeling sick with worry here.  No-one I am trying to ring seems available.

Watched some videos on stuff and still feel sick...Think they are removed now but showed dead bodies in the street.
