Far out - there's so many friends that i have in Chc that i'm still concerned for. For instance, one of my mates was the curator at the Timeball in Lyttleton. I've just read that it was "torn apart". I really hope he's ok. Another owns a backpackers in the Central city. I'll try twitter but i suspect it may be a while before it all becomes clear. :(

The best thing about Finance Minister Bill English\'s latest Budget is that it does finally signal a much greater role for the private sector in the New Zealand economy. And another step along the way to extract this country from the political cul-de-sac in which Helen Clark\'s Labour Government parked us.

any word on Grim?  if someone can flick me his main email ill use the database at work to try and get a landline for him
also if anyone happens to know an Anna Davidson or Stuart Flecther and have seen or heard theyre ok please let me know, they are the only two staff that have yet to check in - i understand they were out at the time.

also to whoever it was that was wondering about GenI CHCH, ive been told by our National Sales Manager who happened to be on a voice conference with gen i CHCH staff at the time of the quake that all Telecom departments (including Geni) were evacuated safely out of the building.

for those wondering about sgt187 - hes all fine as well, he was on a roof building away when he was called out to another job site so he escaped unharmed

so pyro/anyone else:   if you can think of GetSomeers no one has heard from if you pm me their numbers ill ring around and see who i hear from.

so glad to see so many of you chchers that have checked in.  ive still got a couple of affliction guys we have yet to get intouch with however the rest of my cantabrian clannies are safe

Feel bad because I FB'ed "Looter in Hi-Viz....Fail".

Feel like an ass, but all I saw was him being escorted away, not the actual searching he was doing.

Also related to my ignorance, is Ngati_Grim a CHCH citizen? I thought he was, and haven't seen him post... Thought about him last night a few times...

Ah bro,

we're o.k...alive! we haven't moved and won't be for a while as this place seems to be really sturdy...glad to hear you're o.k...was worried as you work in town...just got power back on...no cell phone credit :(

Take care

Blobs is likely without power or water. Last I knew he lived on the beach side of town. Don't know for sure if he still does.
Haven't heard anything from SOA forums though.

What about that bliss fellow?

Welcome back Ducky

Now on a technical question, refering to: http://quake.crowe.co.nz/QuakeMap/Last24Hours/

Is it unusual that all of the shocks are being logged within that confined area, when the original sep quake was further inland and then swarmed around that plains ?

Rheology, stress etc on a 'new' fault line by the looks of it...related (stress-wise) to Sept 'Quake, but appears to be a 'new' faultline.

Geologists seem to be of differing opinions right now. But the side of the story I'm inclined to believe is that it's not actually an aftershock at all. It's a different fault that was loaded up with stress after the first (September) one.

Quigs was apparently saying something about a network of faults, and referring to the california coast as a reference. As each moves it loads up others until eventually they all find some kind of uneasy equilibrium. So unfortuantely there may be more in store for us.
Hopes up that it's not the case though!

his phone is ringing however no one is answering, have called to check when the last call from his cell was made which was @ 12.39pm yesterday.  Will keep trying.  im gonna roll positively here and say hes abandoned his phone.  who does he work for? the billing acc details look like its part of Telecom or GenI.  Also going by the fact the line is still ringing the mobile phone is somewhere sheltered, if it was out in the street or somewhere badly damaged the phone would have died from loss of power or water damage by now

i can check any telecom mobile for last activity if that will help anyone

@4.36 - have gotten RHOs landline number which is active however no one is answering im presuming he and his family have moved to somewhere with shelter, support and safer structure will keep trying both mob and home line tomorrow and let you know

We just had to abandon all our shit in the office. It's likely it's on his desk or something. You'd think it'd come to mind in an emergency because you want to use it... but you really don't think about shit like that when your brain is in (fight or)flight mode.
Keep hopes high.
