Just headed down to see some mates in Christchurch for the weekend.  Although the city centre was cordoned off and a lot of progress has obviously been made in the affected areas, it was sobering to see first hand the damage, and the random wanton destruction of livelihoods (not to mention lives).  It was also palpable that there's a lot of doubt over what what the future holds, but IMO a lot of people will return home once they feel safer, and a lot of people will continue to move to what's still a great city, once we've rebuilt.

Also, your fish and chips are fucking amazing, seriously.

right... quick escape has been sorted & booked... the bitchiwoo tribe (minus eldest child) will be in Wellyburg for two nights this week.
gonna do some fun things like brush my teeth with running water, drink the tap water without boiling it twice, wander round a functional cbd and sleep in a building that doesn't have major cracks in every wall and moguls in the floorboards.

fun times :p

Good to hear your building is fine. Do you have any significantly damaged buildings next to you that will stop you being able to reopen once you have power?

nope all clear, the brewery was the only building of concern and that looks like it is in full production.

My faltbed is ok i think, cant really tell without power. My solvent is fucked I think, I didn't put it to bed as such, and wihtout power for 2 weeks shit gets clogged/siezed very fast. It only costs $20k to replace the heads, and about another $15k to replace the drives/lines. I might push for a payout and get a new machine there if possible.

Thats the big problem with these machines, they need to be put to bed in a proper fashion to stop it happening, a 6.3 and leaving the building wasn't covered in the manual from Japan!

Good to hear some people are getting some information to rid that anxiety of the unknown future. Still many things are unkown, but it's becoming more clear to many on what the next step might be. Always better than limbo.

That site is a fantastic idea Bitchi :>
I see you there :)

Maybe you could go back into mobile barista services again... I hear there's a lot of places with a sudden lack of good coffee, seems to be a common complaint!

Also, your fish and chips are $#@!ing amazing, seriously.

Grampian Fish and Chip shop on Grampian street in Casebrook are REALLY good, especially the burgers, and the oil is changed regularly.

That is good news too since it means you still have a workplace to go to. Hopefully they get water going back at your house.

I was surprised to find that I know quite a few people who are in Christchurch at the moment. They all headed back as soon as they could to help out with the student army.

just read on the msn site http://news.msn.co.nz/article/8220693/christchurch-earthquake-national-memorial-service-date-set that the 18th of march is a public holiday for the canterbury region so as to attend the memorial service in hagley park at 1245.
