Since when was it a $2k fine though?

I can hardly see the point in fining someone for accidentally burning a piece of toast. It's not like it is gong to deter the person form doing it next time. It's a simple mistake.

Not attacking you bro, just really confused at such a high pay to price for a legitimate mistake.

probably some hall profiteering as well

works callout costs are around 1.5 - 2k. large commercial building with automated callout. compulsary full building inspection takes about an hour with two appliances

It costs our work $2000 for fire callouts too, depending on the situation they usually pass the cost onto the employee who caused it

(e.g. burnt toast.. there are signs all over the kitchen saying "please shut the door when you are using the toaster or sandwich maker so the fire alarm doesn't get set off accidentally" but yet people still leave it open, and still cause us to be evacuated.. *sigh*)

LARF!

2 units, 1k a pop. Someone has to pay. Usually if it's a genuine accident they won't charge the poor toast burner. The fee pass on is there to stop retarded drunks from pulling it in the middle of the night for a laugh.

We had 2 units here at work the other day. I believe the number of units depends on the size of the structure.

Anyway, turns out here that it was the cafe downstairs. She gave the building residents free coffee to say sorry, it was win.

haha nice.

its a pain in the arse when it happens here, because both sides of the building have to evac. so its laser strike, a busy gym, a physio, and harvey norman on our side, a couple of furnature stores, coffee shop, an outlet store and a movie theatre

kids + pissed off gym members make it hell, throw in snobby shopers and it makes you want to actually light a fire. people move amazingly slow when they think there isn't actually a fire

Yeh, but at least when the engine pulls up you get to see the pipe labeled "Water Dragon" on the side...

I was so curious I wanted to open it, yet so fearful of unleashing the dragon apocalypse that I didn't.
