Codex - if you get a chance, have look for 5th Gear from last week - they did an intersting test on 'premium petrols' - BP Regular (95) vs Shell V-Power (98) vs BP Ultimate (98) vs Esso (98) vs Asda (95).
General conclusion was that the extra cost wasn't worth it. The 98 BP ultimate only gave 1 extra HP over the BP 95. The V Power gave 4 or so additional HP over BP regular 95. But when you take a car from 200 to 204 the difference isn't really noticible. In NZ our 91 is shite, so given the option opt for 95 prem over 98 prem.
Distance - wasn't measured. They only compared BHP (rolling road) for each fuel mix.
octane has no relevance on power, unless it's tuned.
The tests & video would say otherwise. Same vehicle, same rolling road, different fuel - yeilded 4-5 bhp more than regular petrol.
What happend to the eel afterwards?
