I don't understand;

Samsung Galaxy III is $139 per month for a 24 month contract (right now it's a $699 phone and on any other day it can usually be picked up from around $800).

The Iphone5 on the same plan (800mins, 600 text, 2GB of data) is the same price - $139 per month for 0 money down yet it's a $1029 phone.

Telecom are justifying the outrageously expensive monthly contract for the SIII (in order to get it for 0 money down) on the fact that they are trying to sell the handset for whopping $999.

and their plan subsidies are based on their cost not their retail.

and this surprises you how.

even Vodafone subsidizes prepay or cash sale phones heavily just to keep the customer base, they wright those costs off and incorporate those estimated losses into keeping a live customer base with prepay 0 which is almost pure profit, and contracts which is profit plus covers any losses from the subsidization, and also their retail stores markup accessories by 250% - 500 percent.

eg car charger 29.99  - but as a combo pack with a leather case at christmas it's $9.99 and they still make money at 9.99.

every telecom store will always always go for the upsell, it's the contracts and accessories that keep the money coming in.

also in the last 4 years isps have had such huge drops in bandwidth charges yet you've seen caps only increase marginally, that's because data caps are pretty much 100% margin.
if you want to make sure i know what i am talking about just ask codex, hell vouch that i know what i speak of..

DO NOT buy a telecom s3...

the version telecom sells is the i9300t.  it has a reconfigured antennae mount internally and has a diff firmware to other international variants...

it will only cause you hassles later if you want to be on any other network other than telecom, i switched to a voda version just because of that reason, i have had 3 sIII's so far, well one is the wifes, one was telecom and sold it now have the voda version.
