i found terra copy had issues with any files bigger than 4.5gb as a single chunk. especially when copying to an external, or 2tb drive, i think it had to do with the way terra copy caches and also doesn't play nice with some other filesystem software in win 7, there are several forums about it.

My win7 license from dreamspark expired on the 3rd, didn't realise this until after I had installed win7, grr!

I now have win8.1, which is actually quite nice!

Also have an undisclosed linux distro in dual boot.

Everything is all lovely and stable!

Fuck. Battery reporting incorrectly, so I flatten it in attempt to re-calibrate charge levels. Forgot about it, now it's dead flat so won't charge at all :<

Totally fucked. I'll bet that the discharge safety circuit has opened. No amount of charge will fix this.
I shouldn't have forgotten about it. Or just taken the gamble and charged it fully last time I checked it (Just enough charge to boot fully, but not enough to do it twice).

I should probably state that the reason I tried this (knowing this could happen) was because I'd be sitting here tapping away on my favourite forum with fingers of fancyful rage and suddenly PZHUUUOOOOOOOOooooo power off, hdd spin down noise (yeah you can imagine me making that noise IRL if you'd like, I'd do it).

This is when netbook is reporting more than half an hour until battery warning popup time.
30% charge, my arse.

So it was probably time for a new one anyway... but still.

I too was hesitant to getting out of cycling habits. But truth is that cycling is not good for lithium based energy bricks.
Although I guess it depends on how you define 'cycle'.

Also my netbook is the business. It's nearly a notebook. I call it a laptop. It's not one of those original things that conjures up images of D cells.

I've treated the battery... with caution. Not all good for it though. As I say, it has been plugged in most of the time I'm using the machine, so maybe that's why it's lasted so long.
