I am in Healthcare IT.. I build and implement most of the hospital systems....

but if you want me to check a weird mole or spot, then i will need full body selfie shots.. rubber gloves, cooking oil and about 2 hours of your time in person, oh and some chloroform

Does anyone know what the deal is with currency conversion rates?

I'm about to drop $300 on a case via a US company (www.ncases.com). The total including shipping comes to $305NZD when doing a straight currency conversion with the current exchange rate. However if I go through PayPal the total comes to $325NZD. Is this PayPal adding its currency conversion fees on top? Am I likely to get a cost closer to the actual value if I use my CC directly? (BNZ).

paypal uses a more static exchange rate, i.e checking it with XE.com is live, often like paypal credit card companies used a more static rate so they don't lose out if it fluctuates wildly in the 24-48 hours of processing, and paypal fees.

chances are BNZ costs will be fairly similar as they take up to 5 days to process after payment to counter any exchange rate fluctuations in their favor, its how banks make money,

I would still do it directly using your CC, as it has fraud protection whereas Paypal I have no confidence in after their breaches in recent times.
