Ohhhh, I love pulling engines down (as long as I don't have to put them together).
Is that a twin overhead cam motorbike engine? What motor does all the guts belong to?

Yeah, I dunno, I can only guess! Those little plasic caps usually cover parts of a motorbike engine and knowing Franky is into motorbikes, along with the Honda sign made me think bike :D Race bike engines are pretty huge. Alloy DOHC head and smallish crank too? Still think Bike :D

Emrico and Spig win! your prizes are in the mail.
Its a CBR600, just doing off season refresh, pistons, rings, valves, hampster, seals, bearings, journals, a dash of lipstick and some new knickers. Also looking to work the valve seats a little to bump it up 1-3 hp hopefully. At the mo it is putting out 119hp atw so its healthy already but could be better.
Trying to get a rule change through MNZ at the mo to allow aftermarket slipper clutches cos the Honda doesn't have one factory :(
Hopefully be back together in about a month.

Couple of weeks back I decided to finally do something about the bulbs in my dash that don't work.

The ones that aren't working are the left most and right most which isn't good in any car but worse in a Skyline as its nice to be able to see the engine temp and oil pressure gauges at night.

After seeing how gangsta blue LEDs in the dash cluster look I decided to replace all the bulbs with blue T10 LED globes from Jaycar.

As you can see in the provided pic this failed somewhat as a) the single globe T10s are not bright enough, b) I need to either sand the ends of the bulbs a little or add a dab of silicone to diffuse the light better and c) the left and right most bulbs are still not working - I can see all of the speedo, rev and fuel gauges just fine as its a lot brighter than my tab camera would suggest but its still annoying.

What did you do to your vehicle today?

After a bunch of fucking round with a test light and peeking behind the dash I have discovered the previous owner was a retard who attempted to hijack the dash lights to power something else which has destroyed the power to these bulbs (its not a fuse I double checked them all) so I bought five 4-LED globes today and with a bit of luck and kiwi ingenuity (read a soldering iron, some bourbon and half a pack of smokes) I should be able to jack something up.

When I finally get that done I will post up pics and move onto the next part of the project, putting blue LEDs in the clock and hazard light button, followed by the daunting task of pulling apart the AC and modifying it so that shows up blue too. By the way I didn't just choose blue randomly (although it looks the best), my headunit shines bright blue so its all fitting.

I finally sorted out the dash light issue I was having - the previous owner had serious fucked with the wiring and the pcb for the dash cluster and after a week of tinkering the oil temp gauge light still has no power to it but either way I finally got around to installing the 4-LED Blue globes and fixed the wiring for the rest of the non-functioning LEDs so I finally have the blue dash cluster-ish I wanted from the start

Let me tell you this shit is bright as hell, and while it looks uneven from the pic below it has excellent coverage and just appears awesome in general.

Here's what it looks like with the 4-LED clusters

I will be moving onto the clock, hazard button and AC unit shortly but I have another little project that I will be completing in my spare time simultaneously - modifying the 'Skyline' logo at the rear to light up, and my R33 is a red 2 door coupe so bright red LEDs should look pretty pro shining through and individualize mine a little from the other Skylines around.

Here's a pic of the mod but with blue LEDs so just imagine a red coupe with red LEDs and you get the gist.

You sir are a cunt

Mint that the plates were still available, I need to hurry up and find the cash for GREAVR even if it is an unlikely plate.

Also I wouldn't mind getting some end caps and rear caps to make the Skyline look a little tighter, but what I want most of all is flush duckbill spoiler that doesn't hang over the end of the boot, but they are so fucking hard to find.

It never ceases to entertain me that personalised plates flout the laws of English by spelling 'Douchebag' in 6 characters or less.

so mad

But yeah I can see why people think they are wanky and there are plenty of plates out there where my first thought is 'wanker' but with something like your gamer handle I think its appropriate.

Probably more-so for a plate that says 'GAMGEE' rather than 'GREAVR' but yeah
