Ended up just being plugs... so now has 6 new Platinums in & purring.

Front 3 are easy to get at, back 3 required them to remove 1/2 the bloody car (intercooler, inlet manifaulds, strut brace, etc).

$240 in parts, $180 in Labour.

Ouch, at least it's sorted :D

Strut brace installed tonight. I had to fabricate a bracket to move my alarm siren down as I can't fit it anywhere else :/

Fabricated bracket:

Fitted with siren bracket mounted:

Strut brace installed:

Siren clearance once mounted is pretty perfect:

will try and get some photos up once i have finished.

Pulled tank and airbox off the bike and cleaned out the air filter (k&N) on Thursday

re oiled filter on friday

Saturday did a dyno tune on the bike (filter was a little over oiled) but came in at 163 bhp on a braked dyno so it's more accurate,  might be able to tweak the map a bit more and go for 167bhp  without spending 2500 on a custom carbon airbox and full exhaust system.

pulled the airfilter again due to little excess oil and cleaned it again

just waiting for it to dry so i can re oil it again. then i'll do the pics

2004 - NZ new, Sport (lol, yeah right), full leather, has the boot lip spoiler, front splitter & 17" alloys... would be nice to get the 3.5 next time around.

The benefit of the 3.5 is the VCM - 20% less fuel use than than 3.0. Some times it's a V6, others a V4 and then it cuts down to a straight 3.

spent 2 hours washing and cleaning the new car for the wife, inside and out even the door sills and rubbers with earbuds.

then 2 hours glass polishing the windscreen and rear windscreen, and full cut polish and carnuba wax by hand the entire car, and another 45 min doing tire shine and interior wipe down with protectant, and finally a deodorizer and air fresher squirt.

glass scrub is amazing at removing water spots and shitty road grime that's built up, such a difference, just noticed even after the polish that i have water spots in a couple of places on the roof, even after using the chamois, guess i may need to five it another cut and final polish again at some point.

also the car yard detailer mus have been shite... found old wax residue that had greyed under the rear windscreen edges and round trims and corner bits and handles .. got 90% of it cleaned out.. even took the roof rack rails out and cleaned there, over the next few washes and cleans should be able to remove all the built up residue in places

Low sided coming out of the final sweeper at 'puna today.

I "chewed out" my rear tyre earlier in the day, which means a combination of bad suspension setup, tyre pressures and accelerating too hard created a strip around the tyre of rolled rubber, there's very little grip on this strip and I'd felt it step out a few times earlier and knew to take it easy on the final sweeper cause this is where it was slipping the most.

BUT

I was in 2nd place, and the man in first place was less than 1m in front of me, and im much faster in a straight line than he is

SO

remembering to hold back went out the window.

and instead of finishing first, I simply didn't finish at all.

However earlier in the dya I bet my personal best, pulled a 1:44.836 and placed 3rd and 2nd in previous races.

Up to USD$250 already for parts, waiting to hear back from NZ suppliers of a few speciality parts.

Frankytanky had a good day too I gather, but I didn't catch up with him :/

Condenser replacement!

Out with the old:

I was warned about the gas bursting out, I forgot to cover it and got yellow misted :( lol

Top is the replacement, bottom is the old shagged one:

The wicked bend in the old one;

Installed and ready to be gassed:

Also took the time to get my replacement headlights installed, top old and bottom the newly polished one:

The other side was done too but sadly the lamp isn't as good so going to get it swapped with a better one hopefully.

$600 worth of parts on the way, still need a new fairing (or fairings) and a top fairing bracket.

Yeah my day was ok, I was happy about the laptime i got down to. Sorry i didn't get a chance to catch up, I didn't even know you crashed! Hope its not too bad. Get back on it asap.
You may need to go a little firmer in the rear perhaps to stop the tearing? Do you know what rider sag you are running?

I am heading to Levels this weekend for a have a go day. forecast looks shit. wicked.

Soon the Munro challenge will be upon us......
