I think I may have just found a possible alternative to the Pi.

1.6Ghz quad-core, 1GB of DDR3 and running Jelly Bean 4.1
http://www.ebay.com/itm/121025584210?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619
So tempting, especially since for about $20 you can get a pretty nifty QWERTY remote as well. What do I choose???

1 out of 1 computer electrical engineers recommend the beagle board over everything.

that's 100%!

I'd personally go with raspberrypi because of the overwhelming support you'll have available

Yea, I'm leaning more towards the Pi, though seeing as they're both so incredibly cheap, may as well get both! :D

even going through the ui at 1080p almost shits itself.

it's quite interesting you think the rasp pi is well supported, cause it isn't.

beagle board give you full tech specs, the software aspects will be mostly the same.

I found the raspberrypi forums filled with much more information, more builds, more users helping users than the beagle forums o-o

That's quite disappointing, there is no advantage using a Raspi over a ATV2 for 720p XBMC other then being slightly cheaper.

Need cheap 1080p XBMC units. Guess i'll be waiting for Ouya to hit our shores...

No, but I've been playing with my arduino driving a solenoid with a transistor.

About to have a go at driving the same solenoid but with my ARM Cortex-M3  dev board

Nothing when racing? at a track day it is considered bad taste because the aggressiveness is not required.
