I've just played with Microsoft's Table Surface at the Microsoft Store.

is it a cheap laptop with shitty rez, or expensive tablet with shitty rez and no dlna?

I thought the Galaxy note or whatever thier tablet is would be better value? (tablet not cell).

The only thing I see surface having over ipad is a USB port.

I get the hype behind the S4, google nexus and those things. They are market leading pieces of hardware. Top of the line specs etc.

I just see the surface as this too late missed the boat OP piece of hardware. Specs wise next to a ipad and galaxy tab etc I just don't see the excitement???

Surface runs Windows RT. Which supports new windows 8 apps (metro ones). So in theory you can run your same app set on the desktop and tablet. Someone has even cracked the thing, so it can run full blown desktop apps (RT is supposed to be a close port of windows 8, but ms stopped pre win8 desktop programs working).

EDIT: Seems i got that wrong. Surface pro is available with windows 8, so supports third party stuff off the bat.

But the Pro would be awesome. Ever used the RT? Like in practice? With the keyboard, kickstand and touchscreen wrapped in some of the highest build quailty?

Yet my laptops Processor,Ram,Video card hard-dive space and screen makes any tablet a pile of shit in comparison, and the Surface Pro is even at the same price point as decent laptops.

I dont really need a full laptop, i am already running Win8 on my desktop, and my phone is a Lumia 920. So the Surface Pro seems like a pretty natural choice to me.

A tablet fits a different requirement to a laptop. There are many situations where a laptop would simply be to bulky to operate.
