Holy crap. I was just watching the TV series: Arrow and noticed this wee gem on the back of their monitor.

Microsoft must be going absolutely all out with the Windows advertising.

Sometimes I wonder if it's coincidence, like maybe that's just the monitor they happened go get. If it were windows sponsored there'd be full screen shots of it's screen while they used it. Again, like hawaii five-0. This one time in stargate I saw viewsonic monitors. on another planet. but then they hit them with hammers or something, I figured it was just a 'cheap' option to waste.

I'm loving how fast Windows 8 starts up.

I'll probably upgrade all my computers for that fact alone.

I thought it started up slower than 7, and the actual speed comes from 'shutdown' actually being hibernate.

yep i'd have to agree with pyro on this one...  startup from cold is slower even on ssd, and shutdown seems to go into s full suspend to disk state.

Finding I just always use the 'old desktop' page and do my very best to stay away from that pesky start screen.

So I basically have Windows 7, without the nice start menu, and with annoying things that popup every time my mouse goes to any corner/side of the screen.

Do not like.

If we go back to 2006 we find an interesting presentation by Bill Gates

http://au.ign.com/articles/2006/05/22/e3-2006-thanks-for-the-memories
Quote
9. Gates unveils Live Anywhere

E3 is not usually Bill Gates' thing. But E3 2006 was something of a landmark year for Microsoft as it heads into the second year of its next-generation console, the 360. If seeing the richest man on the planet in person is not a surreal enough moment in itself, his announcement of Live Anywhere is going to change the way we see console and PC games. It may not be the biggest surprise that 360 software and PC software will eventually be compatible on Windows Vista -- this is Microsoft we're talking about -- the idea of playing against your friends-list cross-platform and sending game invites via cellphone is exciting, and Live Anywhere is just a harbinger of the future of gaming. Plus, Gates is a lot taller than I thought he'd be.

Learned a new word today
Craplet
Quote
"Craplets"

Often new PCs come with pre-installed software which the manufacturer was paid to include but is of dubious value to the purchaser. Such unwanted pre-installed software and advertisements are derogatorily called "craplets" (a portmanteau of crap and applet[2][3]) and crapware. In January 2007, an unnamed executive spokesman for Microsoft expressed concern that the Windows Vista launch might be damaged by poorly designed, uncertified third-party applications installed by vendors — "We call them craplets."

More like "An unamed executive spokesman for Microsoft expressed joy at being able to cut out the middle man and provide the poorly designed applications first party"

Windows 8 is SO UNINTUITIVE that she's gone back to her old computer.

Disagree entirely, the gui additions make life much easier when it comes to day to day management.
