Wow, so witty. Xananananananananzzzz, breaking out the "ur mum" jokes since ages ago.

In all srsness, if you had a car this would have been avoided. Broken bones never heal back to the way they use to be.

I could have broken my ankle stepping off the airplane... Or been trapped in a steal cage being cut out after an accident.

Reality is shit happens.
And yes I agree broken bones are never the same... Didi my collar bone a few years back and it still gives me grief every once in a while

Risk of injury, and seriousness of said injury, while riding a motorcycle is much higher than that of driving a car. Ever wonder why ACC premiums are so much higher?

Sure you could have broken your ankle while doing any number of normal daily tasks, however the risk of this is significantly lower than it happening while riding a motorcycle.

I understand you guys like doing this whole bike thing. It makes you feel cool and all. But is the heightened risk of injury, disability or even death really worth it?

Obviously you have never loved to do anything that has a reasonable amount of risk involved mcc.

Motorcycles are inherently dangerous, alot of car drivers are complete utter fuckwits and NZs roads are pretty crap but yes it is definetly worth it.

How about Sky Diving? Motor Racing? Horse Racing? Hang/Para-Gliding? Jousting? Mountain Biking? Road Biking?

All have a risk of "injury, disability or even death", if you don't want to get out there and enjoy the experience of life, go become an internet troll.... oh wait.....

I've been wanting to skydive for a while.

Also I'd say motor racing is in fact FAR safer than every day driving on NZ roads.
Then again I didn't really consider rally, just the much more comparible track sport / hillclimb, etc.

b. Like rugby? more acc claims for rugby injuries than any other in NZ, even pleasure boating is more deadly than motorcycling.

Even as a proportional percentage of players to injuries? Link?

I mountain bike. Which the thread has said is apparently risky. However there are things I do to reduce risk of serious injury.

I would never road bike, as IMO there is too much potential for serious injury. I agree that car drivers do cause a lot of trouble for both motorcyclists, and cyclists with awesome legs as their motor. However this is because of the retarded mentality all NZ drivers seem to have that they own the road and its for them only.

If I could road bike with no cars, I would, as a significant proportion of the risk would be removed. Can you motorbike without cars, yes, on a track, you can also go as fast as you like. Why not save biking for the track only, reducing the risk of you getting injured by a car, or cat. Sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Everyone knows roads are unsafe, yet people are more afraid of flying than driving. Its fine to have risk in your life, but mitigating it to ensure your own survival, and high quality of life, is also very important.

Nope no link, it was posted on kiwibiker as ammo for the ACC levy bullshit we went through.

Either way, unless you're an epic pussy, the sort of mountain biking you do is more dangerous than motorcycling (at least the mountain biking I do is definitely more risky than the motorcycling I do), regardless of how you "reduce risks". An animal, or human, or object could very easily block the trail in front of you giving you no time to react as a result you kark over the handle bars and break your back, or over a 40ft cliff and die.

Unless of course you wear a 3 inch iron suit lined with cotton which keeps you safe in a crash, cause otherwise motorcyclists definitely reduce risks far more than you can, the fact you don't know this only emphasises your ignorance.

But back to your original argument about being safer in a car, you honestly cannot say that simply because every collision is unique, you cannot reproduce the same parameters of a collision in order to test your hypothesis. You perceive motorcycling to be more dangerous because of what you've seen motorcycles doing, but if you tried it yourself you'd realise it's not as dangerous as you think.
