I'm cool with them using the Maori terms, but this is an issue i'm sure old white NZ males will love to get on their high horses about so won't happen.
God it's not like we would be changing something particularly historic or named after something important.

Maori have problems pronouncing North Island, they say Norf.

Asians have problems pronouncing North and South.
 
So maybe we should rename to Asian names so that we are not pandering to a specific group of Pakeha.
