No war, it would be suicide for the NK regime, so even if Kim Jong Un wanted to the generals wouldn't do it.   It's all posturing to (a) make him look tough internally and (b) maybe extract some concessions when he returns to the negotiating table.

I think the technical term is 'sabre rattling', and maybe a little dirty war action on the sidelines.  One scary possibility is a dirty bomb on a mid range missile hitting either SK, Japan or possibly Guam...whats the half life on plutonium particles again ?

if the war breaks out, i suspect the US would not use nukes - since its conventional weapons would do more than enough damage to the NK command structure, whilst leaving the environment "clean". i also suspect that NK will only threaten to use nukes at this stage - since they dont have much nuclear material available to them at this stage. if they used a nuke, they would need to make sure that it was targeted in such a way as to force the US and SK to negotiation table on the assumption that the US and Sk wouldnt want to lose any more solders or civilians and that the US would not want to get dragged into a new war.

however this is based on a logic that is not NK'n - if anythign happens it will be as bell said - NK lobbing a few shells into some part of SK or a sea skimish between NK and SK in the sea of japan - everyone else filing motions at UN and SK lobbing a few shells or doing a targeted airstrike against a border post or sinking a NK patrol boat in the Sea of Japan

the US wont get involved unless asked to by the SK
