Velociraptor vs. 7200rpm

Sooooo, I've got a failing 600GB Velociraptor. I'm looking at either changing the way I have the drives configured in my PC to cover the missing 480GB of data that is currently on that drive, or I'll purchase a 1 or 2TB drive and just deal with the slower speeds. Question is, can anyone real world compare for me? I'm not interested in graphs and shit, just any anecdotal opinions on whether I'll even notice a speed change or not.

If you need the speed for some stuff, chuck a small amount of money at a 2nd hand SSD, if it is just storage you are after, chances are you aren't doing anything that will notice the speed difference

He means if you access the data often, get an SSD because it's fast.

If you don't access it often, get an ordinary drive.

Thanks dudes, I'll see how I go on a 1TB ebay auction, else it'll be a brand new Seagate Hybrid.

I'm only using this particular drive for Steam games, and if I get this 2TB version, I'll likely also use it for MMO installs as well, so it's not needed to be mega fast.

Bought a 2TB Seagate Hybrid as the Veloci drives went for some USD$130, so the effort to get them here, the minimal speed diff, and the general lack of cost difference was better to get the local newer tech option.
