A member can be a candidate (indeed, all candidates have to be members), but of course not all members can be candidates. And certainly, it appears, that most members will have no consequential say in who the candidates are either.
Of course, a formal candidate selection process may be held which the Executive can consider as guidance.

Turns out the Internet Party will be traveling the country looking for candidates

The Internet Party begins a series of preliminary candidate selection meetings this weekend, with the first in Dunedin on Saturday then moving north through Christchurch on Sunday and Wellington, Hamilton and Auckland next week.

Internet Party leader Vikram Kumar says a shortlist of candidates will be selected from those meetings with a final national selection "Candidate Challenge" open to a public audience in Auckland on June 7.

Yeah I'm a bit conflicted about that, but I'll summarize what I said during Facebook discussions over this.

I realize voting Internet-Mana is basically a stealth Labour vote, but no matter how much I am unhappy with the current National government, I won't stoop to voting directly for Labour or the Greens. I know that National are better economically for the country, and a lefty Labour led coalition will do their damnedest to bankrupt us. But I'd rather live in a fiscally bankrupt country than a morally bankrupt one, and given Nationals continued support for 5Eyes, TPPA, 3 Strikes, etc I can simply no longer stomach voting for them. They are morally corrupt, owned lock stock and barrel by the US and big business. Some of the so called "social justice" lefty stuff Mana/Greens/Labour support make my skin crawl. I dislike many of their policies. Hippie kumbaya PC bullshit. But my dislike of National's arrogance and the way it bows down to the US and big business gets my back up even more. It's a choice of the lesser of two evils and anything, even a return to Comrade Clark era communism is better than sucking more Obama/Big Business dick.

Plus I either support or can live with every policy the Internet Party (pre alliance) has on the table, I can't say that for any other party.
