For those (like me) with a preview build installed. MS have said you will be able to upgrade to the release version from the preview, without having to go back to 7 or 8 first.

Been running the preview builds on my HTPC, the latest one is looking really nice.

Still geared towards a tabletly interface, I guess their real market is going to be all these new convertible hybrid laptops, which makes sense. (I certainly wouldn't be interested is a standard laptop when I could get one which can be converted to a tablet instead)

If any of you have been running the tech preview version of windows 10 i would suggest you check for updates, as Thresh hold version aka RTM has been released to those on the fast lane for updates.

I'm pretty sure the release starts tomorrow and take all week for most copies to get distributed, just to ease the pressure.

I'm not sure about MSDM though.

My 'free' icon showed up last week. Will be upgrading from Win 7 to Win 8.

Anyone know how re-installs work? Will they make available an ISO so I can turn it into a bootable disc/USB?

I'm just guessing just like another windows update...
I hope we can chose what partition to run it on, I have win 8 on two hard drives in my computer so I can update one and keep the other one.

once you do an upgrade to 10 your key will be bound to you hardware id / ms login account.

then you can do a clean install the iso will be available and you can then use something like rufus to create a gpt uefi boot usb.

also OEMS are being sent Windows 10 on usb sticks

Agreed, but there is still a "metric fuck Ton" of pressure on all the internet providers.

My laptop costs $300 and there is absolutely no way it could run Windows 10.

If it can run windows 7 then it can probably run windows 10.

In fact I want to upgrade my old windows 7 laptop to 10, because windows 7 is so slow.

No, memory requirements are the same for 7, 8 and 10.
